The time is now to step into God’s vision for the Refuge! We’ve been preparing for this moment and we are ready. Our season of preparation has clarified our identity: a people called to transform lives through God’s presence. Our current basement space limits our growth potential and leaves us hidden from the view of those we are trying to reach. By acting boldly now, we’ll secure a Permanent home to expand growth potential, unleash ministry opportunities, and give us unprecedented visibility.

Our Vision

Like the Israelites moving from a wilderness tabernacle to a permanent temple, we believe this is a season where God is establishing the Refuge as a permanent fixture in our community. So what do you see when you look at the Refuge Church?

Rest

I see a place where God is welcomed. “A place where His presence rests and and His glory is the highest priority. While I know that, thanks to Calvary, God has made His home in the hearts of men and women, there is still something special about space and place. Something happens when God’s people gather together in a specific place for a specific purpose - He shows up. This endeavor isn’t about building a home for ourselves. This is about God having a place where He can come and rest on His people.

refuge

I see a house of grace. A place where the message isn’t “You should…” but rather “He did…”. I see a family where it’s safe to be a mess. Where mercy covers and shame is broken. I see a church full of people from all kinds of backgrounds with one thing in common: We all were a mess without Jesus! This is why location matters so much to us. People need to have access to God’s house! It shouldn’t be difficult to find a place of grace, safety and acceptance. We have an obligation to make it as easy as possible for the hurting to find a home.

Resource

When I look at the Refuge I see servants. I see people who love and care for their community and aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty to bless their neighbors. We don’t know exactly what this is going to look like yet, but here’s what we do know: we aren’t called to build a church IN the community. We are called to build a church FOR the community. Maybe that looks like an after school program for pre-teens or a resource center for single moms. We have no idea what God has planned. We just know that He is calling us to serve our community in practical ways.

“This building will be a place where God's Presence rests, broken people find healing and our community is blessed.” — Nathan Breithaupt
